Someone asked Paula, "why didn't you choose a more common name for your company like Training You Can Use?" Before Paula had ever even heard of the Galatea concept, she was already living it. Granted, it was the 5th grade, but her speech "I Think the Best, I Expect the Best" won her a gold medal at a regional speech competition. And the rest, as they say, is history. The philosophy of her speech embodied the same values that continue to be the driving force in her life almost 30 years later. And so, with the support and encouragement of family, friends and potential clients, The Galatea Effect LLC was born in March 2007.

American philosopher Henry David Thoreau wrote "Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life that you imagined." So, Paula did. A former corporate trainer for the international management consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton, Paula found her true passion in teaching. What she enjoys most is the knowledge exchange that takes place between the facilitator and the participant.

She also especially enjoys helping business leaders solve problems and improve their ability to attract, grow and retain "ACE" staff -- staff who are Aligned, Capable and Engaged.

The diversity of Paula's background is what makes her such a great consultant. Before corporate training, Paula was a public relations strategist, an employee and community relations manager, a meeting and event planner, and a marketing and admissions director. Throughout her career Paula has worked as a strategic counsel to business leaders in management consulting, healthcare, government, tourism, education and retail.

Paula has a keen understanding of how to align people and processes to create more effective teams and organizations.  Paula is known for being a problem solver, a true consultant at heart—eager to assess all the facts, find and implement a solution.

Paula is a member of Governor Lingle's executive steering committee for the Annual International Women’s Leadership Conference. She is also a member of the American Society for Training and Development and the Society of Human Resource Management.

Paula earned a Master’s certificate in Organizational Development from Hawaii Pacific University and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Hawaii. She is currently working on a Master’s certificate in Human Resource Studies from Cornell University, and expects to graduate in August 2007.
